COLUMBUS, Ohio – Children of a Columbus man killed by a Franklin County police deputy sheriff driving over 100 miles per hour are taking legal action against the county as part of a wrongful death lawsuit.
Family members are available for interviews with the media as the two-year anniversary of the fatal car accident approaches on July 13. The family is available for interviews with the media at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 10th at 3341 W. Broad St, Columbus, OH 43204.
Michael Brown and Linda Brown Fields are filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Franklin County in response to the death of their father, Nyal “Bud” Brown. Their 77-year-old father was killed July 13, 2015 when Deputy Sheriff Brian G. Fritz crashed his police cruiser into Brown’s van on Sullivant Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. that morning.
Fritz was on duty and responding to an officer-in-trouble call involving a drunk driver when the fatal accident occurred, according to July 13, 2015 Columbus Dispatch news article. According to a video from Fritz’s police cruiser, he was driving 106 miles per hour right before his car struck Brown’s van and killed Brown, the Columbus Dispatch reported July 31, 2015.
Michael and Linda Brown are filing a wrongful death lawsuit in order to recover damages as a result of their death of their father. The family is represented by Columbus attorney Michael Christensen of Mike Christensen Law Offices, LLC.
