Ohio Accident News 2022 – Franklin County, OH


Failure To Control Resulted In Two Fatalities And A Serious Injury

On the evening of Sunday, July 24, at approximately 9:23 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Canal Winchester on US Route 33, Franklin County, responded to a fatality/serious injury accident.   

Unit 1, 2008, BMW 1351, was northwest on US Route 33 and Unit 2, a 2014 Ford Explorer and Unit 3, a 2012 Buick Regal, were southeast on US Route 33.  Unit 1 lost control, drove through the median struck a ditch and went airborne. Unit 1 then struck Unit 2 in the center front, overturned, and struck Unit 3.  Unit 1 landed in the median on its roof.   Units 2 and 3 both slid off the right side of the road with Unit 3 traveling down an embankment and striking a ditch.   

Unit 1’s driver was pronounced deceased and taken to the Franklin County Morque.   Unit 2’s driver was pronounced deceased and also taken to the Franklin County Morque.   Unit 3’s driver was in serious condition and was taken by Madison Township EMS to Mount Carmel East Hospital.
